5+ second input delay when "amend" checkbox is enabled

Amend is not usable anymore due to extreme input lag locking out the Fork UI.

I am on 2.13.0.0, but I think this has been going on for at least 6 months. I have been a bit lazy in reporting it.

Can you open terminal and run git gc, please?

Well that did fix the issue! I wonder why there is any input delay when editing the commit description. Isn't this just storing a string to be passed into git commit --amend? Why would git need to be involved with every keypress?
