How to contribute to this repo

Could we get some proper instructions in the readme please?

There is plenty of low-hanging fruit for site maintenance which I'd be happy to tackle, but I'm blocked by the lack of documentation.

Setting up Jekyll locally (Ubuntu) doesn't work due to out of date Gemfiles, Gemfile.lock issue, bundle version problems, the list goes on (not a Ruby guy, sorry).

So I tried the Dev Container, which doesn't even build.

I can manually hack the Dockerfile until it builds, and successfully launch jekyll server in the dev container, but then the browser finds nothing on port 4000.

There are also some build scripts in the repo with a commit message of "Primitive Paket + F# Formatting runner to replace Jekyll". Presumably I should ignore these?

I hadn't realised the local build was so broken - we have been able to update content just by direct commit for many years.

Please feel free to update anything/everything that you see to get the local build together. I don't think we have any real experts in this but hopefully we can work it out.
