Can you rename `gh-pages` branch to `main` and use it directly

The gh-pages branches are (confusing) remnants of the early days of Jekyll and GH pages, and are no longer needed today. One can easily configure the GH pages to use any branch from the repo's settings.

Can any of the maintainers update the settings here?

Seems you're using some custom GHA for the deployment, but the point about renaming the branch still stands. It seems it will just require updating https://github.com/bbatsov/fsharp.org/blob/gh-pages/.github/workflows/jekyll.yml#L12 and the references in the README.

@dsyme When you get the chance, please, check also #972 as some GitHub edit links had the old branch name in them and had to be updated.
