Fullbleed 2.5.4
Fullbleed 2.5.4 fixes uneven letter spacing in native previews of PDFs using unembedded Standard 14 fonts without explicit widths. The same PDF could look correct in a PDF viewer while its Fullbleed PNG preview had gaps inside words.
- Use bundled Adobe advances for Helvetica, Times, Courier, Symbol, and ZapfDingbats.
- Respect built-in encodings and explicit glyph-name differences; preserve explicit widths and embedded replacement fonts.
- Retain pinned metric sources, character maps, notices, and a reproducible table generator.
- Add installed-package preview comparisons to Linux/Windows CI and the release gate.
Install with python -m pip install --upgrade fullbleed==2.5.4 or use the fullbleed = "2.5.4" Rust crate. This adds no Python runtime dependency.
Preview PNG hashes may change for affected PDFs. Review the corrected images before updating a reproducibility baseline. The retained documentation fixtures preserve PDF bytes and embedded-font preview hashes. Unembedded fonts still use available substitute outlines; this release does not establish general outline parity across viewers.
Validation: 1,286 local Rust tests, 492 Python tests, 30 preview comparisons with explicit reference widths and negative controls on Linux and Windows, 86 CSS fixtures, existing goldens, 15 wheel builds, 19 installed-wheel checks, and a fresh public-package install. The attached verification record, engineering evidence, and SHA-256 sums document the tested scope. They do not assert independent PDF/VT certification.
