Fullbleed 2.5.8: regular font selection
Fullbleed 2.5.8 fixes normal text selecting an italic face when that face was registered before its regular sibling. The fix applies to fonts loaded from files, directories, and asset bundles, including compiled documents.
python -m pip install --upgrade "fullbleed==2.5.8"Rust users can update the fullbleed crate to 2.5.8. Node.js and .NET bindings have separate versions and release gates; this release does not update their engines.
Family aliases now prefer upright fonts and the CSS weight-400 fallback order. Both legacy and typographic family names are recognized. Face-specific names, supplied aliases, and explicit @font-face mappings remain available. Directory inputs are sorted; equal-rank duplicates keep first-registration priority. The core gains no runtime dependency or public API.
Upgrade note: Affected documents can change appearance, line breaks, and hashes. Review saved PDF baselines. Use an explicit italic style or face mapping when italics are intentional.
The retained family check covers 54 cases / 84 pages and inspects actual embedded fonts and extracted text. Native previews and PDFium pixels match explicit-face controls; Linux and Windows produce identical PDFs and previews for these cases. Public 2.5.7 fails the same check for the expected italic-font mismatch. Nine existing subset fixtures retain their 2.5.7 PDF bytes, text, and previews. These are fixture results, not complete CSS font-matching conformance.
Validation also includes the full Rust/Python suites, Python 3.10 through 3.14 compatibility, packaged-crate MSRV checks, golden documents, platform wheels, and the existing print-profile gate. The dedicated PDF/VT validator remains unconfigured and does not establish PDF/VT conformance.
