Strange Deletion Behavior in Todoist #999

What happened?
A user reported an issue with what he thinks is the way FUTO 'grab's words for editing in a way that other keyboards don't.
The app Todoist has a 'smart date detection' feature that will recognize words like "Sunday" or "Sun" in the name of a task, and highlight them as due dates for a task, and when entering a task name with the FUTO Keyboard, this happens:

He noticed this behavior in Todoist, but said it might affect other apps that do weird stuff with input methods. He reported it to Todoist and they confirmed it's not an issue with other keyboards.
