Enhancement: Improve Navigation Bar Spacing

Currently, the Navigation Bar itself is great. I would like to ask if it would be an option to make just the Tree of the Notes and folders itself more minimalistic in terms of the spacing?

Bringing this to bigger Vaults would really improve Navigation from a User Perspective. Here is an example of "spacing" based on Obsidian again.

On smaller Vaults, this isn't really an issue, but for example, migrating this current vault makes it feel like endless scrolling. Open to hearing other opinions. :)

Hi there, It's just a styling issue, I initially thought the folders as "boxes" would make more sense in terms of figuring out at a glance what each line represents.

I agree the nav bar is becoming more cluttered as I add more features, so I will take a look and see what we can do.
One of the options I was considering to remove buttons and such (you will see I moved the theme dropdown to the bottom and made it smaller, also removed the tagline "your self hosted knowledge base" etc...) is to "maybe" add some kind of command palette like in VS but not sure if it's worth it, again I'd like to keep this simple but we'll see. 😉

Let me think about possibilities to make the navigation tree "bigger" so to speak (in a sense that you can see more stuff at first glance).

Thank you for the quick reply! I see what you mean and this is just me thinking out loud how we can even improve it further. I don't even find the Navigation Bar that cluttered or busy.

Simply making the Boxes smaller around each Title / Folder Name would give it instantly more space I think. For example taking a more smaller Box approach like the "+ New" Button in NoteDiscovery.

This is just a Random Website I quickly searched for a reference. It's an Obsidian Publish Site. This is the Box Size that I think could make a big difference.

the space gain is noticeable. I still like the "boxes" around the folders to kind of identify them at a glance, what do you think?

This can go in the next release after I polish some other issues I'm working on now.

Thanks for working on it. Seeing the smaller boxes feels absolutely like the right direction.

Agreeing on the boxes in general, they help to identify the note.

I wonder if we can go even smaller on the box or if this looks to forced just curious. I'm trying to get the most out of the available space if that makes sense... Otherwise I am happy with the improved Spacing.

The release 0.7.0 is up now for grabs, it also includes graph view to leverage (finally) the graph endpoint. Very basic but for now it's good.
It also should give you more spacing in your big notes collection.
