Introduction

Welcome to the State of Dev 2025 community discussion!

The State of Dev in Morocco is the annual survey conducted by the GeeksBlaBla Community to gather insights about the Moroccan software development community. This survey helps us understand trends, technologies, challenges, and opportunities faced by developers in Morocco.

We're now preparing for the 2025 survey, and we need YOUR input to make it even better! This is your chance to help shape the questions that will define the state of Moroccan tech in 2025.

Deadline for suggestions: October 31, 2025

After this date, we'll review all feedback and finalize the 2025 survey questions.

I suggest that this year’s survey includes a first question like “Are you a student or a professional?”
Then, based on the answer, show questions relevant to each group.
Last year, I noticed that I ended up answering some questions meant for professionals — so if there was any bias, it might have been caused by me 😅.

normally we have a skip button @youssefoubrik. What you are suggesting can make the survey much easier, but it's a bit complicated to implement right now. We may think of a way to make the survey YAML file have some kind of condition.

"How often do you experience burnout or high stress related to your development work?"

in AI Part:

We all know AI changed the way we work, but does it really boost productivity and help learning, or does it affect developers’ creativity and create new challenges?

Also, do companies accept using AI to generate code?

Are there developers in Morocco whose jobs are affected by AI, or is the situation still stable for now?

in Others Part (Why Not):

I also want to know how many developers plan to build their own startup or finish studies first before working on it.

What is the average (2 months, ...) time between graduation and the first job?

Maybe add something about DevOps in the Tech section ? Something like: Which DevOps practices or tools do you regularly use in your projects?

My 3 rials, even if it's too late for this year @yjose :

• first, "What you drink while coding" : I think we can agree it's a fun but low-value question. As a moroccan developer, it would be more meaningful to hear about "work-life balance" or "stress handling", like "how do you handle overstressing"

• I like specifics when drawing critics... so instead of the binary "School preparation for career," we could ask: "Which specific skills/topics did your formal education FAIL to adequately prepare you for?" (e.g., DevOps, Soft Skills, Modern Frameworks). It's actionable and relatable, right?

• Community section could be more actionable! Instead of the vague "Community evaluation", let's put an actionable question like: "What's the top action the Moroccan tech community could do to help with your career?"

PS: AI section is getting really (too?) big, I had to resist against suggesting "do you vibe-code" hhh
