AI Meter 1.6.1
Fix: 1.6.0 opened an empty "AI Meter Settings" window when it launched. AI Meter now starts with just its menu bar item, as before.
Everything new in 1.6.0 is still here: your 5-hour and weekly limits with color bars, the monthly limit on Codex's free plan, your plan name, and the new compact menu.
Install: download AI-Meter-Installer.dmg, drag AI Meter into Applications (replace the old copy), and open it. With Homebrew: brew upgrade --cask ai-meter.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon.
AI Meter 1.6.0
See all your limits at a glance.
- The menu shows your 5-hour limit and your weekly limit, each with its own color bar (green, orange, red) and reset time.
- Codex's free plan shows its monthly limit, named as such, instead of a 5-hour one.
- Your plan (Free, Plus, Pro, Max) shows next to the first limit.
- A new, more compact menu: the Claude/Codex switch and buttons on one row, and one card with your limits.
- The menu no longer jumps when you switch between Claude and Codex, and the switch always takes your click.
- No more "limiting usage checks" warning: when a provider asks AI Meter to slow down, it quietly keeps the last reading, and remembers the wait even if you restart it.
Install: download AI-Meter-Installer.dmg, drag AI Meter into Applications (replace the old copy), and open it. With Homebrew: brew upgrade --cask ai-meter.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon.
AI Meter 1.5.3
AI Meter now speaks your language.
- The menu and the About window follow your preferred macOS language: Spanish, German, French, Portuguese, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean. Any other language uses English.
- The "AI 79%" menu bar title stays the same in every language.
Install: download AI-Meter-Installer.dmg, drag AI Meter into Applications (replace the old copy), and open it.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon.
AI Meter 1.5.2
Clearer help when AI Meter can't read your sign-in.
- When your Claude Code or Codex sign-in is missing or expired, the menu now shows an Open the troubleshooting guide link to a step-by-step page: https://guruhat.com/apps/ai-meter/troubleshooting/
- The Claude message now says that signing in to the Claude app isn't enough. AI Meter reads the sign-in saved when you run
claudein Terminal.
Install: download AI-Meter-Installer.dmg, drag AI Meter into Applications (replace the old copy), and open it.
Requires macOS 13 or later on Apple silicon.
AI Meter 1.5.1
Fixes the meter getting stuck on one number.
- When the Claude Code sign-in AI Meter reads has expired (common if you mostly use the Claude desktop app), AI Meter now renews it by running
claude doctorin the background. That sends no prompt and uses none of your allowance. - When Anthropic or OpenAI rate-limits usage checks, AI Meter waits as long as they ask instead of retrying every five minutes
- If a check can't refresh, the menu says why
Install: download AI-Meter-Installer.dmg, drag AI Meter into Applications (replace the old copy), and open it.
