📚 docs/README.skills.md :: Missing install into vs-code button

I don't see 'install' buttons in docs/README.skills.md

But docs/README.instructions.md and others still have them:

The reason they don't appear is there is no protocol handler that supports installing skills, see https://github.com/microsoft/vscode/blob/b4e1496065684a3d68ef4b17c02d898d7b766939/src/vs/workbench/contrib/chat/browser/promptSyntax/promptUrlHandler.ts#L53-L65 for the currently defined ones.

This is because it is much more complex to install a skill than it is an instruction or agent, because a skill could be made up of multiple files, so the handler would need to be aware of all the files that are to be included, not just the SKILLS.md file.

When discussing with the VS Code team it is something they are aware of, but it's not a priority to solve (due to the inherent complexity). You can keep track on microsoft/vscode#290735 but for now, I'm closing this.

Ok, I was able to automate the installation somewhat by using a prompt like:

Use gh cli to download the https://github.com/github/awesome-copilot/tree/main/skills/update-llms skills files.

Copilot knew to download the SKILL.md and looked if there were any additional files.

There's probably room for improvement in the skill we have to discover and install skills - feel free to send through any improvements you come across with it.
