Why:

In the American style, punctuation (dots and commas) is usually placed inside quotation marks, while in the British style they can be placed inside or outside, depending on whether they are included in the quoted text. In your case:

American style: '"lorem ipsum."'
British style (if the dot is not part of the quoted text): '"lorem impsum".'

The formatting in many texts is written in the British style, so that brought them to a single style

Since American English puts commas and periods inside the quotation marks, I'll go ahead and close this PR 💛 However, if you see instances where punctation does not adhere to American English, please feel free to open PRs to correct this!
