Adding profiles other than the ones we receive via /info or modifying the request for existing profiles can easily be done using config-local.js:

But the tricky part is probably that there is not much space for additional profile icons (this was easier before when we had the dropdown menu).

There could also be something like checkboxes for 'avoid ferry' etc., which would make sense for graphhopper.com/maps, but not so much for the maps client shipped with the open source routing engine. And very similar to this: What about car_short_fastest for example?

What if we allow some kind of subgroup-profiles in the configuration? I.e. car is the main profile and car_avoid_motorway has no extra icon but is show as an (checkbox) option underneath? Or we could try to make this more automatic if profiles start with the same prefix.

Or maybe just put all profiles for which there is no icon into a dropdown box. That would be pretty generic. But of course visually not as nice as separate checkboxes (but more generic).

One option would be that we expand the config file and let the user define this option section somehow. I.e. for which profiles there should be which additional checkboxes (for now these checkboxes would just select different profile names and cannot be combined).

Or we create an implicit mechanism and automatically create these checkboxes via simple string matching like for profile "car" all car_* profiles are used as checkboxes. (But this might not work for all cases)
