Hello, I have recently purchased a FS.com GPON-ONU-34-20BI device. I have configured it and it was working fine for more then 4 months. Yesterday, however, I saw that my Internet connection is down.
I got the GPON stick out of my switch, put it inside a media converter to some isolated tests and found the following:

  • some sites load very slow
  • some site do not load at all
  • speedtest.com works, fs.com does not work

After putting the GPON stick in the original huawei router, my Internet connection is back up, everything works as expected.
This was leading me to believe that the stick itself might have some problems, so I decided to restore it to factory defaults and redo my configuration. So I tried

firstboot
reboot

Firstboot however outputs this

This will erase all settings and remove any installed packages. Are you sure? [N/y]
y
/dev/mtdblock4 is mounted as /overlay, only erasing files

After reboot I can see some changes (the ssh server key has changed) but the configuration (serial number and such) stays the same.
What can I do to actually restore it to factory defaults?
Do you thing that Orange (old Telekom) might have changed something in their setup? I am from Romania.
Could the GPON stick be faulty?

Thanks.
