I highly appreciate the enthusiasm you have for open source contributions! You are lucky to choose this project as the project is very bare bones right now (perfect for beginners like yourself) and needs a lot of implementation and rework to be done. This project would be ideal for you for the following reasons:

If you want to

• Learn how to contribute to open-source effectively.
• Learn more about Java development with a hands-on experience.
• Great for Beginners with basic Spring Boot experience
• Learn Spring Boot effectively.
• Learn Microservices and Distributed Systems Architecture with a hands-on project
• Help build a great platform which would many like you for interview prep.

I would recommend you guys to check the codebase for yourself by choosing perhaps one specific module understanding it and trying to improve it or extend its functionality. This would be an ideal way to learn and make meaningful contributions that get merged fast!

Things to note while working on issues / pull requests:

• In case of multiple people trying to claim an issue or make pull requests for the same issue it would be evaluated on a first come first serve basis.
• If an issue is already assigned to someone or perhaps someone wants to actively work on it its better not to comment asking to be assigned for it. Rather you should go look for another issue or feature you can add yourself to the codebase.
• You can still ask to be assigned if an issue is tagged with "stale".
• Also if no one's currently no one assigned to an issue, you are free to make a pull request.

Lastly do make sure to reach out to the mentors for this project as they help guide you more precisely in case I'm busy or not able to respond to your queries!
