PinIt v1.3.1
Fixed
- Notification icon shows as a blank square (#10, #12). The status bar and notification shade now show a monochrome PinIt pin, as Android expects.
- App List is missing apps (#8). On Android 11 and newer, the app picker now lists every app you have installed. No extra permission is needed.
- Saving a list doesn't go back (#13). If you opened a note from a notification, tapping Save or Back used to reopen the same note. Now it returns to Home. This affected every note type, not only lists.
- Pinned list keeps its old title (#13). Editing a pinned list now updates its notification right away.
- The in-app "What's new" card is updated in all 13 languages.
Notes
- Installs over v1.3.0 and keeps all your notes. It's signed with the same key.
PinIt-v1.3.1-LogEnabled.apkis the same build with code shrinking turned off, for debugging bug reports. Most people wantPinIt-v1.3.1.apk.
Thanks to everyone who reported these!
PinIt v1.3.0
What's new
- Reminders that actually fire. Alarms are restored after reboot, app update, timezone change, and process start. If the phone was off when one was due, it pins as soon as the device comes back.
- Scheduled pins. When a reminder is due, the note stays pinned in the shade until you unpin it.
- Edit from the notification. Tap a pinned or reminder notification to open that note. Works even if the app is already in the background.
- Quick-add in the shade. The pinned-notes summary has New note / New list actions. Optional persistent shortcut: Settings → Notifications → Quick-add notification.
- Folders. Create folders like Recipes, Travel, Movies and assign one when you save a note (label sheet). Browse them on the Labels tab.
- Dismissable backup banner. Tap × to hide it until the next edit. It no longer covers the + menu.
- Lock-screen visibility. Pinned notes and reminders show on the lock screen. Android no longer supports home-screen widgets on the lock screen — Settings explains this.
- Reminder troubleshooting. Settings → Notifications has one-tap Exact alarms and App battery settings — the two most common reasons reminders fail on some phones.
Not in this build
- Web / laptop dashboard — still a separate project.
Test plan
- Set a reminder a minute ahead, lock the phone, confirm the heads-up and that the note stays pinned.
- Reboot with a future reminder set; confirm it still fires.
- Tap a pinned notification and confirm it opens that note.
- Enable Quick-add in Settings and create a note from the shade.
- Assign a folder on a link note and find it on the Labels tab.
- Dismiss the backup banner with × and confirm the + menu is fully visible.
PinIt v1.2.0
What's new
🌍 PinIt speaks your language
- Português (Brasil) added. Pick it in Settings → Language — no need to change your phone's language.
- Leave it on System default and PinIt follows your phone automatically (including Android 13+ per-app language).
- The translation covers everything, not just the main screens: notification actions, home-screen widgets, the widget picker your launcher shows, reminder alerts, toasts and error messages.
Only one language for now — more are coming in future releases. pt-BR is the first, and the groundwork is done: every screen in the app is now translatable, so adding a language is just a new translation file. Want yours next? open an issue or send a translation PR — see the translating guide.
Other changes
- 410 strings externalised. Every piece of user-facing text moved out of the code and into proper resource files — this is what makes translation possible at all. Before this release the app had exactly one translatable string.
- Launcher-facing widget names (all 20 Create/Add widgets) now translate too, so the widget picker matches your chosen language.
- Item counts read naturally in every language instead of being glued together with an English "s".
Fixed
- Widget picker and the + menu are safer against future translations. Two places used the visible label as internal logic — the + menu matched on button text to decide what to open, and calendar import compared a date label against English text. Both would have broken the moment those labels were translated (the + menu silently doing nothing, calendar events getting reminders they shouldn't have). Rewired to use stable internal ids.
Notes
- For general users, download
PinIt-v1.2.0.apk— not theLogEnabledone. The LogEnabled build is unminified and only useful for troubleshooting/bug reports. - No database changes in this release, so upgrading from v1.1.2 keeps all your notes, labels, reminders and backups as-is.
- Translations were done with care but not by a native speaker — if something reads oddly in Portuguese, please open an issue and it'll be corrected.
