Is it recommended to use headroom alongside code indexing plugins such as codebase-memory-mcp or codegraph? I assume rtk won't hurt the output of those but I'd like to hear other opinions.

I would say they are mostly complementary
Code indexing tools like codebase-memory-mcp or Codegraph help the model find and understand relevant parts of the codebase, while Headroom helps manage context when tool outputs or conversations start getting large. Worth noting Headroom even has a --code-graph flag built specifically for pairing with codebase-memory-mcp, so this combo is something the maintainer designed for, not just something that happens to coexist.
In my experience, Headroom shouldnt negatively affect those tools in normal use. If anything, it can help prevent large indexing results from consuming too much context. The only potential downside would be if a workflow relies on extremely detailed tool outputs and those outputs get compressed too aggressively, but thats more of an edge case than the norm.
Personally, I'd be comfortable running Headroom alongside a code indexing plugin. The bigger question is whether you need multiple indexing plugins at the same time, since they tend to overlap in functionality. Headroom + a single indexing solution seems like a sensible setup.
