Surface texture: the pattern as a part of its own, in a colour of its own (Discussion #1347, PR #1384): A textured body printed in two colours needed the pattern apart from the body, and the texture made them one. Pattern as its own part in the Surface texture card, with any pattern, now keeps them apart: raised, what stands out of the body becomes a part of its own and the body stays as it was; cut in, the body gets the pattern cut in and a part fills the cut up to the surface, as the gold of the cracks does. Colour of the pattern beside it starts with the colour chosen last in this browser, else one that stands out against the body. Body and pattern meet without a gap and go together in a bundle under the body's id: they move together, keep their colours (two bodies in a 3MF, one in an STL), and Change and Remove texture take the part along. Layers make one part when they all go the same way; otherwise the texture stays one body and the card and the status line say why. Off by default. 3MF: a body of several colours painted for OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer (Discussion #1308, PR #1383): OrcaSlicer and the slicers built on it (Snapmaker Orca, ElegooSlicer) do not read a colour per face, so a body of several colours, such as a Gridfinity bin with letters in a colour of their own or a group with Multicolor on, came in all in one colour. When the export holds such a body, every face of every body is now also painted with its colour's filament, in these slicers' own painting attribute (paint_color, as painting in the slicer writes it), which PrusaSlicer 2.9 reads too, up to 15 colours. The filaments are numbered by the colours in the order they first come in the file, so a colour is the same filament in every body; past 32 colours a face is left unpainted and prints with filament 1. Bambu Studio 2.9 then takes the filaments from the painting instead of showing its colour dialog. A 3MF without such a body is written as before. Opening such a file in layerling no longer says that faces were painted in the slicer. Tried in Snapmaker Orca; not yet in Bambu Studio, ElegooSlicer or PrusaSlicer 2.9. Gridfinity: one letter size for every label shelf (Discussion #1308, PR #1383): Each label shelf made its letters as large as its top let them, so labels of different lengths did not match: on a bin of 2 x 1 units "Screws M3" on the back shelf came out 9 mm high and "M3 nuts" on a side shelf 4.5 mm. Letter size, below Letter colour, now sets how high the capitals are, the same on every shelf of the bin; a shelf too small for it makes its letters as large as it lets them, and a size under 3 mm counts as 3 mm. At 0, the default, each shelf makes them as large as it can, as before. The size is saved with the project and in the shape defaults, and layerling_create_shape, layerling_update_object and layerling_read_scene take and report it as gridfinityLabelTextSize (0, or left out, for none). layerling 1.145.0 makes them as large as each shelf lets them. Gridfinity: fonts of your own on the label shelves (Discussion #1308, PR #1383): The letters on a bin's label shelves came only in the eight built-in fonts. Font now offers the fonts of your own as well, with Your own fonts … at the bottom, as for a text, and Use in that window puts a font on the selected bins with a text as it does on texts. A saved design keeps the outlines of the letters the bins use, and of the H their size is measured on, so it opens on another computer with the letters the same size; a font this browser lacks shows as "Missing font" and the letters come out in Multilanguage until it is added, as for a text. layerling 1.145.0 does not open a design with a bin in a font of one's own. The shape defaults keep only a built-in font, as for a text. layerling_create_shape and layerling_update_object take a font of one's own as gridfinityLabelFont by its name or id and refuse a font they do not know; until now the shape defaults dropped it without a word. layerling_add_font with useOnSelection puts the font on the selected bins too. Use, and useOnSelection, now refuse while a selected object is locked or has its shape locked, for texts as well. Guide chapter 9 in 15 languages, all three SKILL.md. Gridfinity: letters on the label shelves in a colour of their own (Discussion #1308, PR #1383): The letters on a bin's label shelves had the bin's colour, and printing them in another took a colour change in the slicer at the shelf's top, which also coloured the top 0.85 mm of the walls and the lip. Letter colour, below Font, now gives them a colour of their own, for every shelf of the bin: the view draws their tops and sides in it, and a 3MF gives those faces that colour on the bin's one object, which Bambu Studio reads face by face, and paints them for OrcaSlicer and PrusaSlicer 2.9. Not tried in Bambu Studio; the per-face colours are #153's. The faces between the letters and inside an A or a B keep the bin's colour; a face counts as a letter's when a point 0.02 mm inside it lies in one (gridfinityLetterColor.ts, shared by the view and the export, the same faces in both). Unset, or set to the bin's colour, the letters have the bin's colour and the export is as before; the arrow beside the row sets it back. An OBJ carries the colour on its points. An STL and the STEP export have one colour, and so does a bin after the edge tool, Hollow, Split or Simplify mesh. In a group or a bundle the letters keep their colour while Multicolor is on, also after a hole has cut the bin. Where the bin overlaps another body of its colour, the export may join the two, and the letters then have the bin's colour. The colour is saved with the project and in the shape defaults, as the font is, and layerling_create_shape, layerling_update_object and layerling_read_scene take and report it as gridfinityLabelColor. layerling 1.145.0 shows the letters in the bin's colour. Object list: the shield locks a shape too, and the arrow keys on the grip move only the entry (Discussion #1277): The shield in the object list showed only on a part whose shape was locked, so a click could take the lock off but never put it on. Every row now has it: a locked shape always shows it, the others show the open shield on the selected row and under the mouse, so the list stays as narrow as before, and a click locks or unlocks the shape (a part under the padlock is refused, as in the settings). The arrow keys on a clicked grip moved the entry, but the editor took the key as well and moved the selected part or turned the view; now only the entry moves, and the grip's hint says to click it first, in 14 languages. STEP export: what the kernel builds on the way is let go: The page's CAD kernel lives as long as the page, and a STEP export released only each body it wrote, not the faces, edges and wires made on the way to it: a Hirth joint left some 600 of them in the kernel's memory on every export, a screw boss a dozen, so a long session with many exports used more and more of it. Each exact body is now built between a checkpoint and a release of everything after it, and read back for the file only after that; an export of a boss, a snap-fit and a Hirth joint leaves 6 handles behind instead of 664.
