Tap direction for gestures

I'm loving the new gestures we now have. But one feature I'm missing, is tap gestures.

Rather than only being able to set swipe or pinch gestures being able to tap the touchpad with a requisite number of digits would be a welcome feature.

Does libinput have that?

libinput has a tap feature and seemlingly a "tap and drag" feature

that is not a tap gesture. That's tap-to-click.

Is there not a way to intercept the tap gesture event without the clicking?

Looks like libinput reports SLOT: #11759 (comment)

I guess we could say tap = delta < 5 and SLOT decreased to 0

Still, we need AQ to report slot.
