Firefox crashes every time, hyprland crashes sometimes, if an external monitor or dock is plugged or unplugged

Issue:

Unplugging or plugging in a USBC dock or HDMI causes firefox (hyprland crashes sometimes. although much less often so I don't have a log for that yet) to crash with:

When hyprland crashes all applications close and the defaule hyprland background that has the written paint-like text is shown as the background.

Recreate issue:

Unplug or plug in a USBC dock or HDMI cable.

Notes:

This seems to be a Hyprland issue as it looks like it's how hyprland is managing the colour profiles. If not, let me know and I'll focus elsewhere.

Upgrading and downgrading versions makes no difference.

I have the same issue with Zen Browser (which is based on Firefox) and a Thunderbolt 3 Dock with two monitors connected to it (HDMI and DP). Hyprland never crashes for me, but all the browser windows close.

I think it also sometimes happens when I close the laptop lid, but I’m not sure if I’m remembering that correctly.

This might be caused by frequent monitor switches, e.g.:

monitor= , preferred, auto, 2

# Then disable the eDP-1 in one of exec

Try to specify external monitor name in monitor property.
