game issues - input lag, random sensitivity increases, poor performance

after updating my system a few days ago ive encountered this issue that makes gaming on hyprland practically impossible.
to sum it up, some games that i play will either not open in fullscreen mode - instead tiling like a normal window. Or, they will have a different mouse sensitivity in the game window than the rest of the system (including the cursor in menus) along with substantial input lag and what feels like mouse acceleration? changing window rules hasnt helped and i can't find anything online.
im using arch linux with an nvidia gpu, and a amd cpu.
