Random areas flicker in brightness from time to time

Regression: 0.53.0 > 0.55.1
I found it most common to occur in alacritty, then least common in firefox, probably has something to do with how often something updates.

I attempted to record it but in the recording the whole flickering area was black (started via scratchpad):
