CH348 0.1.1 build 13 is an unsigned development preview for WCH CH348 USB-to-eight-UART adapters on macOS 14 or later.

Includes idy/ch348-macos#6, merged as 448ff17. The attached package comes from successful CI run 41787261095 at reviewed commit adeba4e; all driver, packaging, test, and CI build inputs match the merged release sources.

Changes

  • Keep a full receive ring on one UART from terminating the entire eight-port adapter. Report the local overrun and continue shared USB reception.
  • Retire old writes before releasing serial queues, validate a single snapshot of queue metadata, and clean up final startup-registration failure.
  • Preserve modem delta state, accept zero interrupt identifiers, and route initial modem queries and four-byte readbacks to the intended UART.
  • Recover halted configuration pipes without replaying commands, use the USB SDK's descriptor APIs, and exclude system sleep from the transmit watchdog.
  • Remove an unnecessary transmit payload copy and duplicate baud state.

Validation

All 44 Python tests and both C test executables pass, including ASan/UBSan-enabled host regressions that compile production driver method bodies. The installer and extension build for both Apple Silicon (arm64) and Intel (x86_64). Package verification compares the extracted payload, file modes, and symlinks with the built app.

The host tests use memory-only DriverKit substitutes. Physical overflow recovery, sustained multi-UART traffic, modem-pin behavior, USB fault recovery, and sleep/wake remain unqualified for this revision. This release does not claim new hardware acceptance.

Installation status

The app and PKG are unsigned and not notarized. Installing the PKG places CH348.app in /Applications; it does not activate the extension. Driver activation still requires valid Apple signing, provisioning profiles, and macOS approval. This preview is not a generally distributable, activated-driver installer.

Verify the downloaded PKG with the accompanying SHA256SUMS file.

Download unsigned macOS PKG — Apple Silicon + Intel (1.43 MB)

This is an unsigned development preview. The PKG can be downloaded normally; activating the DriverKit extension still requires valid signing and provisioning.

Development preview: CI-built unsigned PKG

This preview adds a downloadable PKG built by GitHub Actions. The app and driver remain version 0.1.0, build 12, with both arm64 and x86_64 architectures.

The PKG and bundled app are unsigned development artifacts, not a notarized driver distribution. The package places CH348.app in /Applications, but contains no installation scripts and does not activate the extension. DriverKit activation still requires the appropriate signatures and provisioning profiles.

Changes

  • Build universal unsigned app and driver binaries in CI.
  • Package the app at the fixed /Applications/CH348.app location.
  • Reject development profiles, certificate-signed or non-universal input, and app/driver version mismatches.
  • Verify each package by extracting and comparing its files, symlinks and permissions.
  • Upload the PKG and SHA-256 checksum from successful CI runs.

Validation and limitations

The macOS CI run passed all 18 Python tests, protocol and serial-ring tests, the universal build, package verification and artifact upload. The CI package was downloaded and its checksum verified before publication. The source and artifact provenance are associated with idy/ch348-macos#2. Both macOS CI runs passed before merging; the optional Cursor Bugbot review was still in progress and was not a required merge gate.

The latest account check showed the DriverKit distribution entitlement requests as submitted and not yet approved. This release tests the CI-to-GitHub-Release packaging and download flow; it does not establish production installation eligibility. No signing credentials, provisioning profiles or private device identifiers are included. Intel runtime, restart, sleep/wake and sustained multi-device traffic remain unqualified.

Development preview: 0.1.0, build 12

This release publishes the CH348 macOS driver source and a universal unsigned build from merged commit 95bf5cb7129dc452b56ca2b0d2bd2a3f988ee290.

The attached app is an unsigned build for inspection and development. It is not an installable, notarized driver distribution. Build and sign the source using the documented development flow on an Apple-registered development Mac. Do not disable SIP or system extension validation to install this preview.

Changes

  • Verify channels 0–7 independently for each CH348 adapter instead of requiring exactly eight ports across the entire Mac.
  • Report missing channels, invalid port names, and runtime-build mismatches, with regression coverage for multiple adapters.
  • Add a shared icon for the installer app and DriverKit extension, with a reproducible Swift drawing script.
  • Advance the build number to 12 so macOS replaces an existing build 11 extension.

Assets

  • CH348-v0.1.0-dev.12-macos-universal-unsigned.zip: unsigned Release build of CH348.app, containing the driver extension; both executables support Apple Silicon and Intel. No provisioning profiles are included.
  • CH348-v0.1.0-dev.12-source.zip: complete tracked source, including build, signing, installation and verification tools.
  • SHA256SUMS: SHA-256 checksums for both ZIP archives.

Validation and limits

  • Pull request idy/ch348-macos#1 passed all three checks before merging.
  • Protocol and serial-ring tests passed with ASan/UBSan; all 18 Python tests passed.
  • Unsigned and local development-signed builds passed. Local development installation and a physical reconnect produced eight native serial ports, all reporting build 12.
  • The unmodified H2Loader CLI completed a status exchange through UART7 with a BK7258 board running H2Loader 0.7.0. Other channels timed out during that scan.
  • Multiple adapters have synthetic regression coverage, but have not been physically tested together. Intel runtime, sleep/wake, restart, sustained traffic and the icon in System Settings remain unqualified.
  • Bluetooth-inclusive H2Loader scanning is blocked by that CLI's missing NSBluetoothAlwaysUsageDescription; the successful serial scan used --no-ble.

A non-development build compiled locally, but failed the installation signing check because its restricted USB signature did not match the available development wildcard profile. The existing local installation uses a device-scoped Apple Development profile. A production installation release still requires suitable Developer ID signing and Apple-approved DriverKit USB/Serial distribution grants, followed by notarization. A successful GitHub upload does not establish production installation eligibility.
