Storage template isn't applied at all

I have searched the existing issues, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate report.

The bug

Storage templates aren't being applied at all when backing up albums, they are all stored in the users folder with no organisation applied at all, all in the same folder.
I've tries redeploying immich multiple times and backing up different albums with no success, the best I managed were the majority of the photos being stored in the correct folder, while the rest were in the users root.

You can run the storage template migration job to move them to the updated album

I have tried this after redeploying the containers and it has only worked depending on the success of the first backup.

When most photos from the album would upload into the correct folder defined by the template, the migration job would move the few that were missed.

But when all folders were uploaded into the users root folder and no folders were created as defined in the template, the migration job had no effect.

I may have not realised i must select the sync albums option which caused half the issue and I apologise for that mistake. However, it still very consistently misses multiple photos from every album I back up, which as you have said the storage migration job does fix, but is rather annoying to run after backing up so many albums after it not succeeding initially.

This is still an issue in the new beta timeline though as they all seem to be uploaded to the users root folder, not following the template at all.

If you have a recurring / reproducible issue with Storage Template, could you

• set Debug log level (Administration > Logging)
• do upload (trigger the issue)
• post Immich logs from that time
• post your storage template
• describe what is expected vs what is observed
