I have searched the existing feature requests, both open and closed, to make sure this is not a duplicate request.
The feature
I would like to see an enhancement to the Memories feature that specifically highlights a single person’s growth over time.
A quintessential feature of Google Photos is the "Then and Now" memory. It identifies a person (e.g., a child) and shows a split-screen or sequential comparison of that person from a few years ago versus a recent photo.
Since Immich already has excellent facial recognition and person-tagging capabilities, the logic for this seems achievable:
Identify a person who has a high frequency of photos across multiple years.
Select a high-quality (or high-scored) photo from a "distant" past (e.g., 2, 5, or 10 years ago).
Pair it with a high-quality photo of the same person from the last 6 months.
Present this as a dedicated "Then and Now" card in the Memories carousel.
Why is this feature important?
For many users migrating from Google Photos, "On This Day" is only the first step. The emotional "hook" of Google Photos is its ability to surface transitions—watching children grow, or seeing how friends/partners have changed over a decade.
This feature would:
Increase user engagement with the "Memories" tab.
Better utilize the existing ML facial recognition data.
Close one of the last major "delight" gaps between Immich and Big Tech cloud providers.

Additional Context
Example of the logic:
If Person_A has photos in 2018 and 2024.
Pick top-rated photo of Person_A from June 2018.
Pick top-rated photo of Person_A from June 2024.
Display as a memory titled: "Name: Then and Now" or "Growing up: Name".
