[🐛] [messaging/unknown] The operation couldn’t be completed. Too many server requests. #5532

Issue

I am unable to get an FCM token with firebase.messaging().getToken() on iOS. On Android it works correctly.
The error message i get is [messaging/unknown] The operation couldn’t be completed. Too many server requests.

I have a minimal project with only the getToken() and i still get that error message. I have tested on multiple real iOS devices with the same result.

It only seems to be one specific firebase project that causes this error. If i change the GoogleService-Info.plist to one from a previous project it works as expected.

I have been in contact with Firebase support which directed me here as they can not help.

This minimal example causes the error:

import React from 'react';
import {SafeAreaView} from 'react-native';

import firebase from '@react-native-firebase/app';
import '@react-native-firebase/messaging';

const testFirebase = async () => {
  const permission = await firebase.messaging().requestPermission();
  console.log('### PERMISSION:', permission);

  const token = await firebase.messaging().getToken().catch(console.error);
  console.log('### TOKEN:', token);
};

const App = () => {
  testFirebase();

  return <SafeAreaView />;
};

export default App;
