@yalozhkin @maxagin we need a banner for the repo README (which will also be the marketplace listing). Something along the lines of what we have for other repositories. E.g:

Would be good to have our custom VS Code logo in it. WDYT?

Hey. I am sharing with you the banner version (VSCode + DVC). Please let me know your comments.

Maxim todo: change the typeface of the “open-source” to the one that is used in the other banners. Find and replace.

To give you some context - the first banner is the oldest one and outdated a bit to my mind.

Second one - I think we did it quick to look similar to the first.

Also, all logos have transparent backgrounds on all banners? Should it be the same?

It's better to include Iterative logo?

DVC repo baner does not have the Iterative logo. Do we want to change the pattern? I would not do it now, because I think we may want to change all banners then. wdyt?

The only question is : do we have time to modify all the banners? Considering the amount of Figma work, I am not sure we want to go this direction at this particular moment of time. wdyt?

1. Correct me if I am wrong. Our logos are not application icons, but VS Code is application. It is why I have used it.
2. To have a compact combination of 2 icons you may want to use a frame. Otherwise the product icons won’t be defined and separated enough.
3. The BG color we use for our product icons will not be so good for the light blue VSCode logo

However if you like we could run any test you want :) Let me know.

Also, the original examples that I posted were from the TPI and DVC repos. We don't want/need to include anything about Hashi-corp and/or Terraform in our banner. Edit: my bad Figma does not reflect the comment.

Also it looks like we are not permitted to use the VSCode logo at all. Who will be able to clarify this?

@maxagin To comply with their rules, do you think you could try:
Using their blue (circle, rounded corner square) with white DVC logo inside? (My thinking: this will signal VS code and reverse how we normally present ourselves indicating the extension?)

1. I think @mattseddon has covered this
2. The text I have used was taken from the repo - I don't see anything particularly wrong with that text. It just states that it is a "Visual Studio Code extension" and then clarifies it's purpose by mentioning DVC.
3. DVC repo baner does not have the Iterative logo - as I mentioned - those banners are outdated. The most recent one with Iterative logo is better probably. Not a strong opinion.
4. The only question is : do we have time to modify all the banners? - no we don't. It's not a priority. Even this discussion is already takes too much time for such topic, folks.

Overall, it's fine to just come with a few ideas based on some VS Code repos that we like and then pick the approach. No requirement to imitate copy DVC banner or TPI. But if that is the easiest way - that's fine.

Max if you feel you addressed all the comments to your satisfaction - I'm fine with the banner you made. Again, I don't think it's a topic we should overthink or overoptimize on.
