• Updated GitHub Actions dependencies to Node.js 24, removed the unused PyPI publishing job, and stopped duplicate test runs on tags.

Validation

All 59 tests pass on Windows and Linux with Python 3.10–3.14. Checks also cover fresh installations, staged and unstaged Git diffs, package builds, and the Action's report upload.

Downloads include a Python wheel, source archives, and SHA256SUMS.txt.

PTGit v0.1.0

PTGit brings readable Git diffs to Cisco Packet Tracer labs. Compare two .pkt saves to see changes to device configurations, IP addresses, VLANs, interfaces, and cables.

Included in v0.1.0

• Readable diffs: compare saved labs directly or use normal git diff and git diff --cached.
• Lab inspection: view configuration and topology with ptgit show.
• Static checks: find common configuration problems with ptgit lint.
• JSON export: export a deterministic lab snapshot with ptgit export --json.
• GitHub Action: add Packet Tracer diffs and lint findings to workflow summaries, with a downloadable JSON report.

Layout changes, internal save IDs, and runtime counters are ignored. ACL and route-map command order is preserved.

Install

Requires Python 3.10+ and Git.

PTGit runs offline with no third-party runtime dependencies. Packet Tracer does not need to be installed to inspect a saved lab.

Validation and coverage

Tested on Windows and Linux in Packet Tracer 9.0.1.0858.

This version reads .pkt files and compares selected configuration and topology fields. Device renames appear as removal/addition. .pka activities, simulation events, IoT programs, and service settings outside the comparison model are not included. See the comparison rules and validation results.
