Caution When Cleaning The Screen

DO NOT use IPA or any acidic solution to clean the screen. The liquid will find its way into the edges of the screen and destroy the bonding, leading to broken lines. This is unfixable and will require a screen replacement.

Hinge Screws

These black screws for the hinges sometimes become quite loose.

The plastic of these screw holes tend to become very brittle and disintegrate. Try not to overly stress them when turning the screws. Never over tighten the screws.

⚠️⚠️⚠️DO NOT attempt to glue the screws into the metal hinge and the plastic shell!⚠️⚠️⚠️ ⚠️⚠️⚠️This MAY result in a badly cracked shell!⚠️⚠️⚠️

My theory is that when one side of the screw posts fail, the other side that's still tightly glued on would tear apart the shell.

However, strengthening the screw post by applying epoxy on the outside of them might still be a good idea.

I've designed a fix for the bottom half of the hinge screw holes in case they failed. I'll design one for the top if I happen to run into a unit with that kind of failure. I've heard it's quite common...

Lubricating the shell where they touch

Apply a small amount of lubrication on these spots on the photo. This will help with fluid open/close action and may reduce the crackling noise.
