Send Tally to Hollyland Wireless Tally System ?

Super thankful for this piece of software and I'm hoping it can resolve my issues.

Trying to send tally from our BM Constellation 2me 4k to our Hollyland Wireless tally system for 16 cameras.
It is expecting TCP/IP for the standard but I'm struggling to get things to talk.

I get tally in my Bitfocus Companion setup no problem.

Any ideas? Has anyone done this?
We've used this system for a couple of years now without issue, but that was with our older constellation 2me HD that I guess had a different tally output protocol.

Hey Joseph, honestly I’m not sure.  I don’t see any tally data anywhere hitting. Maybe my integrators have that port locked down more?  It’s weird because in bitfocus it pulls it fine but Hollyland is telling me the new 4k constellations use “UDP” instead of tcp/ip for tally so it won’t work without something in between.  I suppose I can get a BM tally GPO to convert it but that only gives you 8 channels. For what it's worth, Hollyland only supports the VideoHub API of the ATEM switchers (TCP, port 9990). Fun fact - you should be able to use it with an actual BMD router too. Following the naming scheme for your router outputs should be enough:

• "PGM", "Program", "Live" - red tally
• "PVW", "Preview" - green tally

Hey Ryland, TallyArbiter can be used as a translation plane from the ATEM to the vMix protocol.

Of course you need to set up TA to talk to the ATEM under "sources", and then add the respective "devices" and "device sources".

Set your hollyland tally's "switcher ip address" to the computer hosting TA. It should then handshake and connect. You will find this under "listeners" on the TA interface. The ethernet icon should show in the top left of your hollyland.

At my church, both preview and program signals are showing as program on the hollyland. I am working on the source code and will update you if I find anything.

Awesome new! Honestly I haven't even gotten Tally Arbiter to see my atem yet, I need to play with it more especially if you are saying it can work 🥳. I might be circling back with questions though.

OK, questions:

1. Is translating from ATEM to Vmix protocol going to successfully show it on the Hollyland?
2. For "devices" and "device sources" do I need to setup a device for each channel on the Hollyland unit so it can receive my cameras on certain devices?
3. where is the folder /src/_modules ? I looked in the contents folder of the TA applications folder on my Mac but no luck.

1. Yes, this past weekend was our first run with the TallyArbiter setup. My video director says it worked flawlessly.

2. "Sources" is where you add the ATEM. If the computer is in the same subnet as the ATEM it should show up automatically... if not just putting in the IP works. "Devices" is where you put your cameras. But this is just a placeholder for TallyArbiter's purposes. You need to add the source ("edit sources" button) which links the "device" to an input on the ATEM. Just match the input number.

3. You will need to build from the source code to make the patch to /src/_modules... Here is the documentation.

Yay! I got it working but I DO have the same issue of program and preview showing up as program on the Hollyland. I'm not real confident in "building and run from source"....hmm.

I am submitting the changes I made to @josephdadams, and with any luck it will be added to the code... That way, hopefully, you won't need to compile the code yourself.

The code was accepted! As far as I understand, it will not be available to you until there is a new release with the updates--unless you want to download the new codebase and build it... Anyhow, thanks for all you've done for the community; I hope my contribution will serve you in the same way you have served others!

I went ahead and got the source code running via terminal (quite the process for a noob like me with homebrew, git and node.js stuff).

BUT it's working with the Hollyland unit. Do you just keep the terminal window minimized and running? GPT says to use something like PM2 to manage it auto starting or running Arbiter in the background but for now I'm happy.

We have been running it with the terminal window just minimized after running "npm run desktop"--mainly so I could keep an eye on the logging and make sure everything was good... But, for ease of use, you should be able to compile it into an executable using "npm run build-desktop". It will then output into "./release" folder an application and installers (in the event you want to install on multiple computers). But really it doesn't matter as long as it's working!

Ok one final update: The Hollyland Tally System WORKS now without Tally Arbiter. The problem was it didn't work on old firmware and while I had "successfully updated" the firmware according to the device it was not actually updating!! Once I updated from a PC instead of a Mac it actually updated the Hollyland base station and seamlessly works with the ATEM 2me 4k now. People were reporting to me that it was working fine for them so I did more investigating!
