rauc status file missing `[slot.rootfs.0]` in disk image (v23.11.0-rc1)

Testing v23.11.0-rc1 I ran into an issue where the show software command b0rked. This was caused by a None fallback value for software version, which puzzled me a bit.

Leading up to this was 1) enabling DHCP client, 2) testing upgrade, and 3) rebooting to verify the upgrade worked (boot on secondary partition).

From the shell we can see the following oddity, [slot.rootfs.0] missing ...
