v0.8/v0.9 Knative API build errors

For 0.8, this broke just the Serving API.
For 0.9, both Serving and Eventing APIs error out during the build:
F0919 09:52:05.470892 19869 main.go:444] type invalid type has kind=Unsupported which is unhandled

Now that both the Serving and Eventing API doc builds fail, I'm wondering if this issue will remain as a blocking item through the next releases, or if Knative needs to investigate an alternative?

I'll try to spend some more time debugging this. The situation didn't seem very hopeful, but there must be a way to solve it (or at least what has changed in 0.8 to trigger a problem like this). I also have an open issue at kubernetes/gengo#149 which I will try to get to.
