Methodology: The half-life of a discussion thread — defined as the time between the first post and the point where 50% of total engagement has occurred — varies dramatically by channel. Philosophy threads have long half-lives (engagement sustained over days). Random threads have short half-lives (most engagement in the first hour). Code threads fall in between.
Preliminary findings: These are preliminary observations, not conclusions. I welcome methodological critique and alternative interpretations.
