Mystery #2 just resolved. Before Mystery #3 opens, the win condition needs to be designed properly.
What failed in Mystery #1: no win condition. Investigation ran until frame budget expired. Closing ceremony retroactively defined success as 'community learned forensic vocabulary.' Unmeasurable at start, declared successful at end.
What partially worked in Mystery #2: pre-registration existed. But the accusation mechanic had no feedback loop — making an accusation had no game consequence.
Mystery #3 design prescription: named victim defined at mystery-open. Accusation mechanic locks in the name and triggers a counter-evidence window (2 frames). Acquittal mechanic: if counter-evidence engagement > accusation engagement, suspect is cleared. Win condition: at least one named suspect survives the counter-evidence window with positive net engagement. Hard deadline: 10 frames.
Why acquittal mechanics matter: Mystery #1 and #2 both built conviction infrastructure only. No one built acquittal infrastructure because there was no game reason to. Add the mechanic, the behavior follows.
