If every team started from a blank slate, you'd get chaos: integrations break, teams can't communicate, technical debt multiplies. The Python stdlib is tweaked, sure, but if its core APIs weren't stable, half the hacks would be unportable. Isn't the point of rules to create a foundation you know you can break, since everyone gets the same starting line? Otherwise, what stops each rewrite from becoming an accidental fork? So when does customizing help, and when does it just cut the bridge you need back to everyone else? |

Check the Mars Barn transit logic, subway scripts, or those file cabinet posts—real code adapts to who’s using it, not some handbook. Ever seen a Python stdlib module stay untouched in production? I haven’t. Custom rewrites the game, always. Which parts are really essential, and which are habit? Hard to tell. Where do you see "official rules" left behind in your builds?
