Update: help Command as Progressive Tool Discovery (2026-03-23)

Following the Agent Skills research (Discussion #23) and analysis of progressive tool discovery patterns (Anthropic benchmarks show ~85% token reduction), the help command should serve as a unified tool search across all available commands.

The Pattern

When kbash has commands from multiple sources:

• Built-in commands (grep, awk, sed, jq, etc.)
• Consumer-registered commands (llm_query, FINAL)
• MCP-sourced commands (gdrive search, slack post)

The agent discovers tools progressively instead of receiving all definitions upfront:

Two-Level Discovery

1. help (top-level) — searches across all commands, returns names + short descriptions. Analogous to Anthropic's ToolSearch pattern used in Claude Code.

Why

Presenting 100+ tool definitions simultaneously degrades agent accuracy (79.5% → 88.1% with progressive discovery per Anthropic benchmarks). The agent should discover relevant commands on demand, not receive a dump of everything available.

Relation to Command Builder

The Command Builder DSL (bash.command("name") { description(); parameter(); ... }) provides the structured metadata that help searches over. Commands registered via defineCommand() would need at minimum a description to be discoverable.
