๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 18+
  • npm or yarn

Installation

# Clone the repository
git clone <repository-url>
cd InstaFaceReadX

# Install dependencies
npm install

# Start development server
npm run dev

Development Commands

# Start development server
npm run dev

# Build for production
npm run build

# Build for GitHub Pages (outputs to /docs folder)
npm run build:gh-pages

# Preview production build
npm run preview

# Run linting
npm run lint

๐ŸŒ GitHub Pages Deployment

This project is configured to deploy as a static site on GitHub Pages. The app uses mocked data, so it runs completely client-side without requiring a backend server.

Deploying to GitHub Pages

  1. Build the static site:

    npm run build:gh-pages

This will create a docs folder with all the static files needed for GitHub Pages.

  2. Commit and push the docs folder:

    git add docs/
git commit -m "Deploy to GitHub Pages"
    git push
  3. Configure GitHub Pages:

    • Go to your repository settings on GitHub
    • Navigate to "Pages" in the left sidebar
    • Under "Source", select "Deploy from a branch"
    • Choose the main (or master) branch
    • Select the /docs folder
    • Click "Save"
  4. Access your site: Your site will be available at: https://<your-username>.github.io/InstaFaceReadX/

Important Notes

  • The build automatically sets the base path to /InstaFaceReadX/ for GitHub Pages
  • A .nojekyll file is created in the docs folder to prevent Jekyll processing
  • All assets (images, videos) are external URLs (Unsplash, sample videos) and will work without any server
  • The app is fully functional as a static demo - all data is mocked client-side

Local Testing

To test the GitHub Pages build locally:

npm run build:gh-pages
# Then serve the docs folder with any static file server
# For example, using Python:
cd docs && python -m http.server 8000
# Or using Node.js http-server:
npx http-server docs -p 8000
