Release list
LinDobe 0.5.5
LinDobe was called AdobeWine until this month. The project was renamed to avoid using a trademarked name. The adobewine command, package names and Flatpak ID keep their old spelling for now, so existing installs update as usual.
New in 0.5.5:
- Premiere on AMD no longer needs a manual setting for black frames. LinDobe now sets the compile option AMD's OpenCL driver needs, found by the reporter in #15. Without AMD's driver, the launcher points you to it.
adobewine reportnow lists your OpenCL drivers.- Tested on Intel Iris Xe with NVIDIA switched off: Photoshop's 30 most-used functions match the NVIDIA results, and Premiere's 24 scripted functions export correctly. Premiere rejects this GPU and renders on the CPU, so it's slower. We haven't tested the AMD change on AMD hardware ourselves.
- Patch 0097's notes now say how it was made, including that its specification came from a study that decompiled Windows' mspatcha.dll.
Install: double-click CCINSTALLER.flatpak, or on Arch-based distros:
curl -LO https://github.com/le-birnes/LinDobe/releases/download/v0.5.5/adobewine-0.5.5-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
sudo pacman -U adobewine-0.5.5-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
adobewine setup
Unofficial, not made by or affiliated with Adobe. You need your own Adobe subscription.
AdobeWine 0.5.4
Update recommended for Flatpak users. Adobe no longer treats the Flatpak as a separate computer.
- Inside the Flatpak, Wine couldn't find the machine ID, so it reported a placeholder and Adobe counted a new device. That could use up one of your two slots and open the "too many devices" page. Wine now reads
/etc/machine-id(patch 0107), so the Flatpak and a native install on the same computer count as one device. - Tested with Lightroom Classic on a machine at its device limit: the 0.5.3 Flatpak stopped at the device page, and 0.5.4 opens the Library with nothing signed out.
If you already activated Adobe in the Flatpak: it will count as a new device once after this update. If you're at the limit, sign out of the old entry at account.adobe.com or on the page itself.
Install: the steps are in the README. On Arch-based systems:
curl -LO https://github.com/le-birnes/AdobeWine/releases/download/v0.5.4/adobewine-0.5.4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
sudo pacman -U adobewine-0.5.4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
adobewine setupKnown issues:
- The Quit button on the too-many-devices page does nothing. Close it with the X on the window.
- Signing out of a device from inside that page hasn't been tested yet. If it doesn't work, use account.adobe.com and open the app again.
- Adobe's installer can stay on "Loading..." if the sign-in page sits for about 15 minutes. Close it, open AdobeWine again and sign in straight away.
AI (Claude) was used as a tool to build AdobeWine.
AdobeWine 0.5.3
Adobe's "too many devices" page now works. It used to be a blank window, which left you stuck when Adobe asked you to sign out of a device.
- The page draws, with your devices listed (patch 0105). Wine's browser engine was missing
createTreeWalkerandNodeFilter, and it broke sign-in URLs longer than 2084 characters. - Emoji and similar characters no longer make
encodeURIComponentfail in Wine's script engine (patch 0106).
Install: the steps are in the README. On Arch-based systems:
curl -LO https://github.com/le-birnes/AdobeWine/releases/download/v0.5.3/adobewine-0.5.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
sudo pacman -U adobewine-0.5.3-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

- Signing out of a device from inside the page hasn't been tested yet. If it doesn't work, use account.adobe.com and open the app again.
- Adobe's installer can stay on "Loading..." if the sign-in page sits for about 15 minutes. Close it, open AdobeWine again and sign in straight away.

AdobeWine 0.5.2
Update recommended for Flatpak users. First-run testing of 0.5.0 found two bugs that stopped apps from starting.
- Apps needing Microsoft's Visual C++ runtime now start. The Flatpak's space-saving links made Microsoft's redistributable fail, so Lightroom quit at once with "mfc140u.dll not found". Updating repairs your setup. Then install or update an app in Creative Cloud once, so it can run the redistributable again.
- Blank licensing window fixed: the launcher now picks Adobe's licensing window that works here, at every start.
- Photoshop's contextual task bar no longer floats above other apps and takes their clicks (patch 0104).
Install: the steps are in the README. On Arch-based systems:
curl -LO https://github.com/le-birnes/AdobeWine/releases/download/v0.5.2/adobewine-0.5.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
sudo pacman -U adobewine-0.5.2-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
adobewine setupKnown issues:
- Adobe's "too many devices" page doesn't draw and shows a blank window. Sign out of a device at account.adobe.com, then start the app again.
- Adobe's installer can stay on "Loading..." if the sign-in page sits for about 15 minutes. Close it, open AdobeWine again and sign in straight away.

AdobeWine 0.5.0
AdobeWine lets you run Adobe Creative Cloud on Linux. It's made for people who just want to enjoy their software: one package to install, your own Adobe account, your apps. AI (Claude) was used as a tool to build it.
Install
- Most Linux systems: download
CCINSTALLER.flatpakbelow, double-click it, click Install, then open AdobeWine from your app menu. The README has the five steps. - Arch, CachyOS, EndeavourOS, Manjaro, Garuda:
AUR registration is still pending.
curl -LO https://github.com/le-birnes/AdobeWine/releases/download/v0.5.0/adobewine-0.5.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst sudo pacman -U adobewine-0.5.0-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst adobewine setup
adobewine-0.5.0-x86_64.tar.zstis the prebuilt runtime foradobewine-bin.
You need your own Adobe subscription. AdobeWine contains no Adobe software and doesn't crack or bypass anything.
New
- Wine 11.20 with 101 patches.
- Five more apps in the menu and the AdobeWine window: InDesign, Bridge, Lightroom Classic, Lightroom and Acrobat.
- Acrobat Pro installs and works, and no longer crashes at start in the setups where it did. Protected Mode is off.
- Lightroom Classic and Bridge tested: everyday functions from import to export.
- Windows functions mapped: 5664 Adobe program files checked against Wine (docs/DLL-MAP.md). 104 of 107 gaps are closed, most by returning "not available here" rather than adding the feature. The other 3 belong to DXVK and vkd3d.
Full list: CHANGELOG.md.
Known issues
- Tested day to day on one laptop (CachyOS, NVIDIA RTX 4070). Other systems have had less use.
- AMD has fewer reports, and Premiere and Media Encoder have no hardware video on AMD yet.
- Some web panels stay blank, such as Photoshop's Home.
- Lightroom Classic has sometimes stuck on its splash screen, cause unknown.
Tried it? Please tell us how it went, good or bad.
AdobeWine 0.4.1 (testing)
Wine 11.18 with 94 patches. Testing release.
What's new
- Faster, smaller first start of the Flatpak: from Open to Adobe's installer in about 50 s instead of 90 s, and about 210 MB less on disk per user.
- Creative Cloud download is reliable: the first-run window now downloads with curl. Adobe's server ended about half of the earlier downloads at 1 MB, and three failures in a row stopped the setup.
- Gecko and Mono downloads are checked against their checksums, so a download cut short is fetched again instead of kept.
- New README for people who want to try Linux and keep working with Adobe: install in five steps, what works, what to know.
Full list: CHANGELOG.md.
Install or update
- Any distribution: download
CCINSTALLER.flatpakbelow and double-click it, orflatpak install --user CCINSTALLER.flatpak. Installing it over 0.4.0 keeps your prefix and your Adobe apps. - Arch:
packaging/aur/adobewine-binfrom the repository (prebuilt, downloadsadobewine-0.4.1-x86_64.tar.zstbelow) orpackaging/aur/adobewine(builds from source), then rerunadobewine setup.
You need your own Creative Cloud subscription; nothing from Adobe is included, and AdobeWine is not affiliated with Adobe.
AdobeWine 0.4.0 (testing)
Wine 11.18 with 94 patches. Testing release.
What's new
- One file for every distribution:
CCINSTALLER.flatpak(below). Double-click it, click Install in your software center, then open AdobeWine from the app menu. A small window checks your computer, sets everything up with a progress bar, downloads Adobe's current Creative Cloud installer from adobe.com, starts it and stops at Adobe's sign-in. Afterwards it lists your apps with Open buttons, adds them to the app menu and has a Report a problem button (you see the report before anything is sent). Tested in containers on Fedora 43, Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 13, Linux Mint 22, openSUSE Leap 16 and Arch; on a real desktop so far only on NVIDIA. Ubuntu and Debian need Flatpak first:sudo apt install flatpak gnome-software-plugin-flatpak, see INSTALL.md. - Illustrator: floating panels (Transform, Color, Align…) show again and no longer block clicks on the canvas (patch 0091).
- InDesign: Ctrl shortcuts work after selecting text with the mouse (0090); InDesign can be scripted over COM again (0088; rerun
adobewine setupafter updating). - After Effects: the Render Queue panel works by hand (0089).
- Setup: no longer stops on a brand-new prefix; Gecko and Mono install silently; with the Flatpak a new prefix is 773 MB instead of 2.4 GB.

Install
- Any distribution: download
CCINSTALLER.flatpakbelow and double-click it, orflatpak install --user CCINSTALLER.flatpak. - Arch: unchanged. Use
packaging/aur/adobewine-binfrom the repository (prebuilt, downloadsadobewine-0.4.0-x86_64.tar.zstbelow) orpackaging/aur/adobewine(builds from source), then rerunadobewine setup.
You need your own Creative Cloud subscription; nothing from Adobe is included, and AdobeWine is not affiliated with Adobe.
AdobeWine 0.3.1 (testing)
Wine 11.18 with 90 patches. Testing release.
What's new
- Showreel: a short film made entirely in the Adobe apps under AdobeWine, every file created, rendered and exported on Linux: https://youtu.be/3Vbzt4cGSQQ. Photoshop painting with pen pressure, Illustrator Blob Brush lettering and Pathfinder, an InDesign report, Audition music, After Effects 3D titles and particles rendered with aerender, and the cut, Lumetri grades and transitions in Premiere Pro, exported through Media Encoder. (The pen strokes come from the simulated tablet in
tools/pen.py, and most steps were scripted.) - Illustrator: the canvas takes clicks and pen strokes while another Adobe app is open (patch 0087).
- Scripting over COM works again after an Adobe app crashed and restarted (patch 0086).
- InDesign: layout and export (styles, tables, placed PSD/AI files, PDF and PNG) work; listed in the README now.
- Known gap: After Effects with the Cinema 4D renderer can use a lot of memory while previewing; see the README.
Full list: CHANGELOG.md.
Install: use packaging/aur/adobewine-bin from the repository (prebuilt, downloads the file below) or packaging/aur/adobewine (builds from source), then rerun adobewine setup.
AdobeWine 0.3.0 (testing)
Wine 11.18 with 88 patches. Testing release.
What's new
- After Effects' composition viewer works with GPU (CUDA) rendering. It stayed black: After Effects hands CUDA frames to its Direct3D 12 viewer through CUDA interop, which failed at every step. Patches 0079-0081 plus patched vkd3d-proton and CUDA bridge builds, which the packages now build and
adobewine setupinstalls. - Premiere Pro: the Import and Export modes draw (they were black, patch 0082); the timeline no longer freezes for good while dragging clips, and the UI no longer spends most of its time recompiling Direct2D shaders (0083/0084, by @Cikappa2904, #14). A real production cut with an After Effects comp through Dynamic Link exports like on Windows (SSIM 0.993, audio identical).
- AMD: Premiere quit right after the splash with Mesa's OpenCL because Wine's OpenCL lacked one OpenCL 2.0 call that its OpenVINO plugin imports. Patch 0085 adds it; confirmation on AMD hardware is pending (#15).
- Pen tablets work under XWayland with pressure (patch 0075): Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects follow pen pressure.
- Creative Cloud updates itself to 6.11 on its own (0072-0074, 0077, 0078), and its update no longer takes the desktop session down.
- Photoshop on Wayland/NVIDIA: smoother canvas on high refresh rate screens, even letter spacing and antialiased UI (by @nvb-uy, #12).
Full list: CHANGELOG.md.
Install: use packaging/aur/adobewine-bin from the repository (prebuilt, downloads the file below) or packaging/aur/adobewine (builds from source), then rerun adobewine setup.
AdobeWine 0.2.2 (testing)
Wine 11.18 with 61 patches. The big one: After Effects renders.
What's new
- After Effects renders. Adding a comp to the Render Queue used to kill After Effects' main thread (a stack overflow in Wine's Direct2D triangulation while drawing the Render Queue panel), so it looked frozen and
aerenderfailed. Patch 0061 fixes it. Tested with a real 300-layer comp with animated captions: all 1264 frames render, and the checked frames match the Windows render (42.8-68.6 dB PSNR). It renders in 88 s here against 57 s on Windows, and After Effects is still less tested than the other apps. - Illustrator PSD and SVG exports use Myriad Pro like on Windows instead of Times New Roman. Adobe's installers create a shared font folder on Windows that was missing under Wine; the launcher now fills it from an installed app.
- HiDPI:
adobewine setupsets Wine's DPI from your desktop's scale, so the apps are no longer tiny on 1.5x/2x screens (--dpi Nto choose). - Desktop file picker (experimental,
WINE_FORCE_PORTAL=1): After Effects' "Format:" list shows its real label. - winedbg can attach to processes whose main thread has exited (patch 0062), which is how the After Effects crash was found.
Full list: CHANGELOG.md. Where this is going: docs/ROADMAP.md, comments in discussion #9.
Prebuilt runtime adobewine-0.2.2-x86_64.tar.zst: built on Arch Linux with generic x86-64 flags. It unpacks to /opt/adobewine:
sudo tar -C / -xf adobewine-0.2.2-x86_64.tar.zst
sudo ln -sf /opt/adobewine/bin/adobewine /usr/local/bin/adobewine
adobewine setupUpdating from an earlier version: unpack over the old one, then run adobewine setup once more (that also applies the new DPI setting).
Tested on one machine plus community reports on Linux Mint, Arch/Omarchy and Gentoo. No AMD report yet: if you have an AMD GPU, even "it starts and crashes" helps (adobewine report, or the compatibility report template).
No Adobe software is included, and nothing touches licensing.
