  • CoW no longer possible? -- @afbjorklund
    • The host filesystem (APFS, XFS, etc.) supports reflink. Utilized when copying an image from the cache -- @AkihiroSuda (FIXME: qcow2-to-raw conversion is still not cached)
    • What is the benefit -- @jandubois
      • Aside from improving the I/O performance and saving the disk space, the most significant benefit might be the simplicity of the code. Beneficial for additional VM driver authors -- @AkihiroSuda
• Add network policy filtering for user-v2 networking #4326
  • Needs to investigate existing policy languages; we shouldn't invent another wheel? -- @AkihiroSuda
    • Other project uses Wasm, but probably too complicated for Lima -- @jandubois

    • Are we sure this PR has no copyright issue?

• Improve socket_vmnet performance using github.com/nirs/vmnet-helper #4370
  • Option 1: port vmnet-helper improvements to socket_vmnet
  • Option 2: implement the support for vmnet-helper
    • Complex, but only during the transition period -- @jandubois
  • Either way needs somebody to work on this
    • @unsuman can help if @nirs is not planning
• Support lima:shared, lima:bridged, lima:host on Linux hosts #4371
  • Needs a privileged helper as in macOS? -- @afbjorklund
  • The traditional convention that has been there for two decades is to chmod/chown /dev/net/tun and invoke /etc/qemu-ifup script with sudoers. Maybe not common these days -- @AkihiroSuda
  • OVS/OVN may work? -- @olamilekan000
  • netplan may work ? -- @songponssw
    • Support for configuring more netplan options #4320 seems to be a different topic -- @AkihiroSuda
      • provisioning script may suffice, we can't have every network configuration in lima.yaml. We have to draw some boundary line -- @jandubois

Social accounts

• Any updates? -- @unsuman
  • Private mailing list address created by CNCF doesn't work for creating Twitter account. If we want to allow multiple maintainers to access social accounts we have to use another email address. gmail, outlook.com, or something -- @AkihiroSuda
  • Which service allows sharing an email account? Needs investigation Create a shared email address for allowing multiple maintainers to login to social accounts #4378 -- @AkihiroSuda
• YouTube for meeting records? -- @unsuman
  • Probably meeting notes in GitHub Discussions suffice. Not many people will watch records -- @AkihiroSuda
