Fedora or Ubuntu (both GNOME and KDE Plasma work fine). In any case stick to Wayland, it works better than X11. Battery life is a general problem since there's no proper way of using performance modes or hibernation. See also: https://www.reddit.com/r/SurfaceLinux/comments/18n5pwp/distro_of_choice/ |

Out of all your requirements there I would say that it is worth doing some research here into Camera. It seems like the camera is the most common sticking issue with linux-surface. I'm not sure if the distro is really a factor there in that regard, and indeed with my fedora 43 KDE the cameras haven't worked out of the box, and I haven't since attempted to fix them, I do not need them on this device, never used them with windows either. It might be worth a seperate discussion question titled to target exacty that question "which distro and guidance for working camera; surface Go 2" |

Hello!
Not new to the project but first question here.
I'm getting a Surface Go 2, to replace my old surface pro 5 and to get a more portable device.
My question is, which distro would you recommend considering the following:
Specs:
M3, 8GB Ram, 128 GB SSD.
Usage:
Browsing, streaming (HBO, Youtube, netflix...), light developing, light google docs and sheets.
Priorities:
Good touch support, be able to make the camera work, battery life.
Thank you so much everyone at this community!
