Im going to be honest some of the stuff ive added over the last few days is not exclusively related to text editing but the story behind commands was that i wanted ledit to be able to format source code and from trying to solve that simple problem, it became a bit bigger, apologies.

Changes

  • Experimental line wrapping: I've added logic to support basic line wrapping. Due to the way the renderer is designed its not thaat easy to add(it has too many assumptions for positioning), its still broken with selection and the click to set cursor caret position. il work on those later. But having basic line wrapping is very useful, triggered via: C-x-r
  • Font antialising: In response to #11 i've implemented usage of the freetype2 single distance field function, this comes with some start up overhead(converting from ttf to bitmap just takes ft2 longer), ive done some optimisation to shorten the duration but it is noticable. I still think the better looking fonts to justify that cost.
  • use_spaces setting: (defaults to true) if set determines whether to insert the literal character TAB or a set amount of spaces.
  • tab_width setting: (default 2) controls how many spaces ' ' the TAB character is wide, further if use_spaces is true it controls the amount of spaces to insert.
  • auto_reload (default false) setting: if a change is detected to a file associated with a active buffer automatically reload it.
  • C-TAB: fast switching between buffers, equivalent to C-x-k but instant.
  • C-%: Jump to matching ([{ or }])
  • Commands: See the command section in the readme https://github.com/liz3/ledit#commands, note that the subprocess is spawned on a seperate thread so the buffer reading and process exit waiting happen asynchronous so editing is possible while running.
  • save_before_command setting: (default false)save active buffer if it has a path before executing a command.
  • Various small performance improvements within the highlighting engine, its still the most computationally expensive part of this editor.
