Extended Description

While building a clean checkout with --enable-optimzed gcc crashes
with this output...

llvm[2]: Compiling Verifier.cpp for Release build

cc1plus: out of memory allocating 3292334932 bytes after a total of
46018560 bytes

This is on
gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4-r1, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8)
(gcc 3.3 (sabi) seems to have the same problem)
(gcc4 on PPC has no problems with it, apart from using about 400Mb)
