@​Tom Can we still merge this before rc2? This should fix the test case on 32 bit systems. I haven't marked this as blocking release-5.0.1 if it's too late.

Note that there is still another patch under review that fixes problems with memory consistency: https://reviews.llvm.org/D40175 Would be great to have it for correctness in 5.0.1, but first need to get this into trunk...
