elecrow 5" HMI display help

I bought this https://github.com/Elecrow-RD/CrowPanel-5.0-HMI-ESP32-Display-800x480. Now I'm trying to figure out how to use it in particular how to use the LCD 800*480 5.0 inches TFT-LCD with driver IC ILI6122/ILI5960 display.

says the board uses a ILI6122 which isn't on the list of supported chips. If the rgb_display driver will work then I could use some help/examples of how to use it. Otherwise what are my options for getting a ILI6122/ILI5960 driver built into lvgl_micropython?

There's an old issue #141 that referred to this board but unfortunately the full build command was not included.
I built using:
python3 make.py esp32 clean BOARD=ESP32_GENERIC_S3 BOARD_VARIANT=SPIRAM_OCT DISPLAY=rgb_display INDEV=gt911 --flash-size=8 CONFIG_SPIRAM_XIP_FROM_PSRAM=y

flashed the firmware and tried this code:

but it fails creating the gt911 device:

Now I don't get the error but nothing is displayed on the screen :( I've tried to verify the RGB pins against the schematic Elecrow supplied.

Thanks. The commented 'cfg.pin...' stuff came from some Elecrow sample C code but it doesn't match the schematic :(

The ESP32 that is being used is an ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N4R8. That means it has 4mb of flash and 8mb of psram.

so you need to compile the firmware using this build command...

python3 make.py esp32 BOARD=ESP32_GENERIC_S3 BOARD_VARIANT=SPIRAM_OCT DISPLAY=rgb_display INDEV=gt911 --flash-size=4 --enable-uart-repl=y --enable-cdc-repl=n --enable-jtag-repl=n

we need to specifically disable the JTAG and the CDC because those pins are used for the I2C for the touch screen. MicroPython defaults those to on if the MCU supports those features. so we need to turn them off.

and give this test script a go once you have compiled and flashed the new firmware. Let me know how you make out
