Creating custom customer attribute with default value 0 will cause not saving value for customer entity

Preconditions
Magento 2.2.2

Steps to reproduce
Create custom customer attribute of type int with default value 0

Expected Result
When a new customer is created value 0 will be set for above custom attribute if no other value was explicitly provided

Actual result
No value is saved for above custom customer attribute when no value is explicitly provided

FWI:
The customer attribute was created by the book and setting another default (e.g 123) will have the expected result

Hi @victortodoran i cannot reproduce by your's scenarious steps, do you try ->
When creating the customer attribute, please take care about following things:

Attribute is added to the attribute set, group

customer_eav_attribute
eav_entity_attribute
Attribute is assigned to customer forms

customer_form_attribute
