Thank you, I can also see that the dependencies have changed, the 'make html' command is not running the docs file. And I can't preview the docs in the codespace

The make html command should still be running in the docs file on codespace. The dependencies are changing if you use DDEV locally.

For live preview on codespace and complete contributing info, you can refer to the contributing guidelines in our community handbook for now.

I already have a PR up for contributing guidelines in this repo that will live soon.

Thank you very much for this guide, but it doesn't seem to be working because i keep getting this error when i run the make html command. However, I did try to run the Sphinx, but the preview icon to see the RST file still didn't come up. i have tried rebuilding the codepsace container, but that isn't working as well. Maybe im missing something?

I first cd into the docs folder using the cd docs. I did this after I had created my branch from the v7.0

Then I ran the make html command as usual but I got the sphinx build error.

I again tried to rebuild the codespace container using the command in the command palette >codespaces: rebuild container
This ran successfully but the icon to forward port and preview the rst file still didn't come up.

These are the steps I've taken so far

I tested this out and it worked. Can you ensure and try these:

• Ensure that you're in the docs/ directory to run make html. I can confirm from my test that the error you encountered, /bin/sh: 1: sphinx-build: not found make: *** [Makefile:47: html] Error 127, was because I wasn't in the docs/ directory.

• Ensure that the file that you need to modify (or any other RST file in the docs folder) is open before you run make html. If it's not opened, you'll get Cannot GET/ error when previewing.

• After running the make html command, click the "Open preview to the side" icon at the right top bar (in line with your file tab), not the one on the terminal. This will open a preview tab on the side that will trigger Esbonio (we need this for live preview). You can safely close this tab.

• Click the "Ports" tab on your terminal, and click the globe icon. It shoud now open the docs.

If any of these still doesn't work, please read and follow the Troubleshooting live preview as mentioned in the contributing guidelines.

Thank you @adiati98 i really appreciate your help so far; however, I have followed the instructions exactly as you mentioned, but it still throws the same error

I think this is what might happened. You run the make html command a bit too soon.

Once the container finished building, it will run the postCreateCommand as screenshot below.

If you run the make html command before this postCreateCommand finish doing its job, you'll get the error that you mentioned. So, try to wait for about 30 seconds after the container finished building, then run the make html.
