Microsoft Build localhost: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What communications are sent to registrants and when?
Registrants will automatically receive:
- Registration Confirmation: Immediately after registering
-
Reminder Emails:
- 72 hours before the event
- 24 hours before the event
- Thank You Email: 48 hours after the event
What should registrants know?
Registrants are informed that:
- Space is limited and unregistered guests are not allowed
- They should cancel their registration if they can no longer attend
- They may be asked to present their registration confirmation email at entry
Do registrants need to bring a laptop?
It is highly recommended, as many events include hands-on labs.
Can people register on the day of the event?
Yes—if space is still available and there are no security restrictions for building entry (e.g., no pre-submitted list required).
What do I need to do if my event is held in a Microsoft-owned facility?
You will receive a security confirmation email from ATC@Microsoft.com asking how attendees will gain entry.
You must confirm whether a registrant list is required:
- No: Attendees will show their confirmation email at entry
-
Yes: Provide the Microsoft Security/Lobby Host contact name and email, and confirm:
- What attendee information is required
- The date the list is needed
If a list is required, you must also:
- Respond to the security confirmation email
- Share Security/Lobby Host contact details
- Confirm required fields (e.g., name, email)
- Confirm the submission deadline
This allows us to deliver the list on time and close registration accordingly.
Note: Registration may close early depending on the deadline provided by Microsoft Security/Lobby Host.
