python.dataScience.textOutputLimit does not work

This setting does not work. I get the message below. I have already set it to 0 but still the same message. I also increased max output size already.

Output was trimmed for performance reasons.
To see the full output set the setting "python.dataScience.textOutputLimit" to 0.

I had the same issue. For me, this setting actually changes the behaviour, but the message persists even when the output is not actually truncated if the cell is marked so once.
I opened the notebook file in a different editor and manually removed outputPrepend tags, then the message went away. Maybe related to microsoft/vscode-python#11726.

However it depends upon which UI you have. If your notebook looks like this:

Then those settings apply.

If your using the new UI:

Then they don't.

But as you can see the output is still really long and I cannot scroll through it whatsoever.

I'm wondering if it's whatever your generating. It may not be the 'text/plain' type.

For me I have this set:

And this code here generates a scrollbar

Can you try the print loop instead and see if that works? And if it does, can you look at the mimetype for the output in the json for your cell (you'll have to open the file as a text file). Or if that doesn't work can you share your full notebook?
