Disable / Uninstall pylance but keep the debugger?

Hi. I find the Pylance warnings utterly irritating and pointless (I have my own tooling for that), but I find the debugger really useful. Is there a way to keep the latter but disable or remove the former? Thanks!

Hi @fritz-trawa! I'm sorry Pylance is being annoying to you. You should be able to uninstall Pylance and keep the Python Debugger extension. Once you uninstall it, it shouldn't automatically re-install itself. If you're working with dev containers and would like to never have Pylance installed in it, that's a feature request under VS Code. There was a similar ask on this issue, but that was closed recently for the lack of upvotes.

That said, if what you find annoying about Pylance is the diagnostics but you still find value from the completions, hover, code actions, etc, you can add the python.analysis.ignore setting to your VS Code settings.json file to suppress all Pylance diagnostics: "python.analysis.ignore": ["**"]
