WSL2 very high CPU usage when no activity

Does this issue occur when all extensions are disabled?: Yes except the WSL2 extension that was not disabled

• VS Code Version: 1.61.2
• OS Version: Windows 10 19043.1288 / Ubuntu 20.04 (kernel 5.10.16.3-microsoft-standard-WSL2)

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Open a folder in WSL2
2. The CPU usage is very high but VSCode reports 0% usage:

The folder that you opened, it's not the root folder (/) right?
Also you did not enable polling ("remote.WSL.fileWatcher.polling": true)?

Yes, I opened a project not in the root folder.

Yes, polling is not enabled.

With your questions I realised now that the folder I opened has a lot of files (800000>) so the issue may be related to that. I forgot to mark the folder with these files as ignored by the file watcher although I didn't get any warning.

I also checked with an empty directory and indeed the CPU usage goes to 0%.

Is it possible that the warning is only shown once per user? It took me a while to track so a reminder would've been nice.

You can also try with the latest insiders or upcoming stable. We have a new watcher implementation that is hopefully more performant.
