Here it is. The same wiring as used in the two other Makita questions, which seems to work fine.

But I do think there is some hardware issue on this BMS. I'll get back to that.

The weird thing about specifically this battery is that without the OBI connected the "Enable" pin is floating and seems completely unconnected. I measure 0V between BAT+ and Enable, but I also measure 0V between BAT- and Enable. The voltage between BAT- and BAT+ is 17.7V.
On other batteries Enable is 0V (not floating). So I think the problem is not with the OBI software/hardware but on the BMS.

I had some difficulties too, so i'll share what i experienced...

I had same issue today, figured out that using a board (esp32 in my case) that do use D6 and D8 for other purpose then just GPIO, like bootloading, which also prevent upload from VSCode, specially if you try to upload when resistors are connected, also disconnect and reconnect to USB port was not working well, had to disconnect each time the resistor ... which lead me to think,so ..
I changed in main.cpp to use other pins, like this
#define ONEWIRE_PIN 2
#define ENABLE_PIN 4
than rebuild and upload again.
and this is now OK ..

I just read now that arduino uno R3 D6 pin do have PWM function, maybe this do interfer with your setup.
As far has i understand it, your blank wire (enable) is pinned to D6, so
maybe not bad idea to give it a try on D2 and D4 ..

sorry, your OneWire is connected to D6 i think, anyway .. just verify, i had issue when inverting those 2, like all bytes 0xFF in responses you mentionned .

Yes, the OneWire is connected to D6 and Enable is connected to D8. It should be like that according to https://github.com/mnh-jansson/open-battery-information/tree/main/ArduinoOBI. It works on other batteries.

I believe you mean TXS0108E. In what way did you connnect this to resolve anything?

yes, I am sorry typo. Using TXS0108E seems can connect but the notifications is " Not supported model " . My BMS is labeled LIPW013.

Hi,

first of all, thank you for the project and all the time you have spent on it.
as i am a makita fan, i collected about 30 battery's over time. i have repaired several (read: replaced bad cell's and put them back together) but they are allways locked.
i found your project and got superexited.
so, arduino uno, built it, worked fantastic.
i did about 3 batteries and then put it aside for some weeks.
after that, restarted everything, and now i get the same issues, it doens't matter which battery i connect, allways the same response.
failed to get a valid response after 2 attempts.
so checked everything, reset the uno, rebuild the code, put it back up there,
same response.
checked wiring took one of my newest batteries (still functioning properly)
same response.

i'm all out of ideas about now and could really use your help.

the only thing i can think is that the resistors i put in the wiring are wrong, or are broken after use.
so i have now ordered a new set of resistors, along with a breadboard to make the connections a tad tidier.
i'm hoping that the issue lies therein, will keep you informed.
But, if there have been any further developments, i am keen to know about them.

I have the same issue with both of my BL1830. One is not charging, the other is charging fine.

It may be a resistance issue, so change the resistance

Well it is 10k, but its just a pull-up resistor, so it shouldn['t matter and it works on other batteries.

I have built a new slightly more permanent one as an arduino shield with correct 4,7k resistors, but it behaves exactly the same.

I'm also struggling with the same problem and I don't really know how to solve it. I think everything is connected correctly, and the code is uploading correctly, but I get the same message as my colleagues.

I can trigger '2 failed attempt'
this occur to me when not connected correctly to port,
would you test , click 'disconnect', next 'refresh port list', next choose the newest port in list, finally click 'connect', and see if you get 'Opened serial port: /dev/xxxxx'
or simpler, close and reopen program without disconnecting module

I can not be sure off course,
but looks like the board does not have the correct 'program' / firmware.
I had to correct what i said about reset button, my bad , but it cause interruption in communication.
This program/firmware/sketch is what make it listening for a connection at the port, which do not seems to be the case for you for the moment, and is a prerequisite for the main python or exe program, depending what you've choosed, to be able to connect to the board the way it needs.
May I suggest you go back to the readme to upload the firmware again

and verify you get the 'success' at the end of upload.

Im getting the same issues here. tried ports 6/8 and 2/4 with same issue. Any ideas?
